Why should a soul suffer in hell for eternity?

One day my colleague mentioned this question as she read it on a Facebook conversation.
Basically I feel this is what the question meant “Is it fair for God to torment a soul in hell for eternity”
Fair question. At first this question sounded frightening but let us look into it in detail.

When you say something as ‘unfair’ aren’t you assuming there is such a thing as ‘fair’? When you say something as ‘fair’ or ‘unfair’ aren’t you assuming that there is such a thing as objective moral law to differentiate between the two? Then if there is an objective  moral law then aren’t you also assuming that there is a moral law giver. So now you are either saying that you have a better morality than the moral law giver or you may say there is no moral law giver. So now if there is no moral law giver then how did you get the objective moral law? if there is no moral law then there is nothing fair or unfair in this world. But if you say there is a moral law giver then you are saying that you have a better morality than him. Either way the question is self defeating.

Are you asking this question believing that there is hell, heaven and eternity or are you trying to prove that they are false or you may even be truly agnostic and want to find the truth?

If you are trying to prove it false then your question logically contradicts itself, but if you are honestly seeking the truth then there is a good news to you. Yes the eternal punishment is not what anybody would want to choose, even God would not want any human being to get there. According to Bible hell is not prepared for man but for the evil one the devil. This is the very reason God came into this world and died on the cross in our place so that we may have eternal life. This is what the Bible says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Yes God does not want anyone to go to hell, there is hope, there is a way to eternal life. It is unto you to believe and have eternity in heaven or disbelieve and choose eternity in hell. That is the good news.
